Upon This House
This design started out as a marriage sampler, and I spent many hours deciding which of several verses I wanted to highlight here. However, as the design developed and I decided on this particular phrase, I realized it suits for a variety of family remembrances – a first home, an anniversary, etc.
The carnation often represents affection, and the red carnation in particular can mean admiration or betrothal. The simple color palette of silk hand dyed floss is lovely and lets the design speak for itself.
I used silk threads here for their rich, lustrous color – and scattered a few teeny eyelet stitches around the background area to avoid being too predictable.
