Stitcher's Blessing
I discovered this quotation while browsing through a book & gift catalog; the original is by Anthony Trollope in 1883: “That I can read and be happy while I am reading is a great blessing.” Just a quick switch of words and we get a wonderful blessing for our own favorite needleart!
The models are slightly different with the framed piece being the simpler version - it's stitched on 28ct natural linen.
I used a 40ct hand-dyed linen from Lakeside Linens for the second piece (but if you find the really fine counts challenging, don't hesitate to make the switch to something larger) and this version adds a few more border bands for a somewhat lacey effect.
Stitch count is 50 x 118 high for the framed model and 50 x 152 high for the smaller piece.
Correction: the first printing of this design lists the stitch count for only the simpler version; please note that the design with the additional border bands has a stitch count of 50 x 152.
