Seaside Roundabout
Punchneedle Model:
Using your 1 and 3-strand punchneedles, you will work this great design in a variety of threads from DMC, Gentle Art, and
Weeks Dye Works—plus some metallics from Rainbow Gallery for added shimmer. The directions will take you through
blending solids and metallics for added dimension in the design. It’s a larger piece—about 7” across, and I recommend a
10'' no-slip hoop for best results. The details are really fun to watch as they appear, and the little clay scallop and sand
dollar buttons add the final touch!
Knotted Miniature Model:
Maybe you’ve fallen in love with this technique—you get fabulous detail with all these little Colonial knots, each worked with one ply of floss using a size 10 crewel needle. Our model was stitched on a cotton fabric (don’t use something that’s loosely woven) that is a marbleized sky blue color to serve as the background for the design. It’s just 3'' in diameter and I suggest a 4” embroidery hoop.
Worked in several DMC colors and one from Weeks Dye Works, you can leave the sky unstitched using a background fabric you like. Want to use a neutral ground fabric? No problem—try the weavers cloth used in punchneedle or any other tightly woven broadcloth type of fabric. Just fill in the sky area with more knots and you have something really wonderful when you are finished!
The chartpak includes iron-on transfers for both models which you can use multiple times.
