Olde Irish Blessing
This is my adaptation of an olde favorite. Scattered throughout the poem itself are various Irish and/or Celtic symbols. The entire design is done in 3 shades of green overdyed floss, with accents in warm brown and golden tones.
Departing from the usual, I haven’t noted any DMC alternatives – the color effect you get from using the overdyed fibers is such an important part of the overall look of the piece, I didn’t want to spoil it! If you haven’t tried these threads yet, do it now! They are lovely and so fun to stitch with!
It’s worked on hand-dyed linen from Birds of a Feather, but you may choose a warm ivory or pale green that’s to your liking if you prefer the crisper look over that of the primitive hand-dyed fabric. The piece finishes to about 8”w x10”h on 32ct linen.
