After hearing many of the familiar patriotic songs these last few months, I noticed that in some of the favorites there were references to our country's prairies: "amber waves of grain," "from the mountains to the prairies," etc. -- hence the inspiration for the designs in this leaflet. I suppose the fact that I grew up in central Kansas helps too!
God Bless America is stitched in rich muted patriotic colors from Sampler Threads on 28ct Shell linen from Wichelt and the wheat seeds are actually gold beads from Mill Hill. I've also added teeny crystal stars from Mill Hill to add a bit more sparkle.
God Bless Our Home is stitched with Weeks' and DMC perle cottons on 18ct Ivory linen from Wichelt. The wheat in this version is stitched in a combination of perle cotton and floss from Weeks to give it a nice texture. And I've added golden clay stars from Just Another Button Co. This one would be just as nice on smaller count linens - just switch to floss!
Of course, I couldn't stop there and there are 2 more smaller designs!
Welcome is also stitched with Sampler Threads, this time on Wichelt's 32ct Sandstone silk/linen.
Plus, for our Canadian neighbors there is O Canada, a pretty version stitched in Weeks' overdyed floss on 32ct Lambswool linen - with a little Canadian clay flag button on the flagpole from JABCo. There are wheat fields in Canada too!
